A browser mock-up of the idea: Claude drafts modules with adjustable parameters, and a control surface (a faux full-size X-Touch, with the Compact as an alternate) tunes them live. Compare versions A/B, morph between them, save what you like. Each tab across the top is a module; pick one and turn a knob.
The full-size layout (default)
Columns: each of the 8 strips is one element. Its fader, knob and ALT / ONLY / OFF / MODE buttons (stock legends REC / SOLO / MUTE / SELECT) all control that element.
ONLY / OFF show only this element, or hide it. On the Finish page OFF bypasses that effect.
Master fader scrubs pages (Scene → Shape → Finish) and settles on the nearest page when you let go. BANK ◀ ▶ steps pages too.
Jog wheel morphs between A and B.
Scroll anywhere on the surface (not on a knob or fader) to move the master fader; scroll a knob or fader to nudge it.
Overview (left of the surface): one row per page, every setting as a bar, arc or LED. Click a cell to jump there.
Right panel: what every setting on the page does; the one you touched last gets the full breakdown.
Rig (header): the X-Touch with a Corsair Xeneon Edge touch display in front of it on one panel, drawn to scale, and the main view to the right. The Edge shows screen buttons, the screen itself (XY pads that move two settings at once, switches, presets; Arena FPS adds balance graphs, a looping VFX preview and a tap/hold tester) and the surface's monitor: the page list and the control you touched last. Z shows it full size. Panels switches back to the overview and details panel.
Columns with nothing to control on a page stay empty rather than borrowing another element's settings.
Novation Launchkey 37 MK4
Keys on the rig bar puts it on the rig, drawn to scale (557 × 251 mm). It tunes the same page as the X-Touch.
Encoders turn one row of the page: the faders, the knobs, or the Compact's right-hand knobs. Encoder page ▲ ▼ picks the row. Click an encoder to reset it.
Pads are two of the strip-button rows (ALT · ONLY, then OFF · MODE). Pad page ▲ ▼ picks them. Lit = on.
Mod wheel morphs A ⇄ B. Pitch wheel nudges the setting you touched last and springs back.
Keys recall presets, one per key from the lowest C (cyan dot ✦ Claude's, amber ● yours). Octave − / + step presets.
Track ◀ ▶ = page · Scene ▶ = next module · Capture MIDI = save · Undo (Shift: Redo) · Quantise = copy · Metronome = A | B · Scale = mutate · Function = fine · Stop / Loop (A / B) / Play / Record (★ mark). Shift arms once.
It's also in the Workspace view, on your desk.
Workspace
Your room from above, to scale: the desk (Straight, L left, L right, U, or Edit desk to drag, resize, add or remove sections), your chair and your reach from it.
+ Add equipment: a tab per kind and one search over everything (pen displays, touch displays, fader boards, keyboards, chairs…). Kinds with a catalog view list what that view's filters and sort show.
Right-click anything to swap it: search, your recent picks, and that kind's list as its view shows it. Right-click the empty desk to add something there.
Tilt and lift put a thing on a stand: the back edge rises, the front stays put, the top view shows what it covers. 3D shows the room with each stand as an orange wedge (the shape to print).
Using the controls
Drag faders and knobs; scroll on a knob for single steps; Shift or FINE = fine
Click a knob (push) or double-click a fader to reset it
Compact layout: ALT / OFF / MODE rows only (no ONLY), knob 16 = morph
